All February Long

Love is in the air in Astoria every February, and it feels even better to share. The Uppertown Business Association invites locals and visitors to join the #spreadthelove campaign, a month-long celebration of love in all its forms.

Inspired by the theme of love, and a city-wide glow of pink, #spreadtheloveastoria is a month-long celebration of Astoria’s unique charm, creativity, and community. The campaign invites locals and visitors to share what they love about Astoria while supporting local businesses, artists, and spaces.

The celebration kicks off on February 1 and culminates with the Spread the Love Valentine Celebration on Friday, February 14, from 12–5pm on Pier 39. This free, family-friendly event features Astoria’s own Love Locks, a sweet and symbolic way to mark a moment of connection. Lock your love on Pier 39 by purchasing a $20 Love Lock kit, which includes a heart-shaped lock, pen, sticker, and instructions. Each lock purchase includes a playful friendship or love ceremony, and $2 from every kit sold supports the Hanthorn Cannery Museum, helping preserve Astoria’s rich history.

Guests can also enjoy a curated Valentine’s Day Gift Shop Booth featuring local artisans and makers, with chocolates, wine, flowers, jewelry, stickers, candles, bath and body goods, the famous Friendshrimp, and more. Capture the moment with a free professional photo in front of Astoria’s iconic red heart by Justin Grafton Studios, and take playful photos at additional creative photo-op backdrops throughout the event.

Throughout the entire month of February, the love continues across town. More than 60 pink neon hearts glow in business windows around Astoria, inviting you to explore, connect, and participate. Look for Valentine boxes at participating businesses, where you can drop a handwritten love note or use a provided postcard to share appreciation with a favorite shop—or take one with you to send to someone you care about. Scan the QR code on their box and leave a Google review while you’re there!

Snap a photo, share what you love, and tag #spreadtheloveastoria on Instagram to help spread the joy. Whether it’s a place, a person, a business, or a feeling—February is all about sharing the love, Astoria-style.
